Nathaniel Nye's 'The Art of Gunnery'

Whenever I visit someplace new I like to visit the local museums and take detailed photographs of the artifacts as potential references for my analysis and artwork. As these records have frequently helped inspire my own work, I am featuring images from some of the great museum collections I have been privileged to visit in my travels in America and Europe.

I have also had the privlege of getting behind the glass, as it were, while researching privately owned artifacts and archiving documents on behalf of friends, family, and acquaintances. Far and away the most expansive project I have undertaken has been organizing a collection of papers left behind by Major Lenox R. Lohr, general manager of the "Century of Progress" Chicago World's Fair, president of the Museum of Science and Industry, and president of radio for NBC. I previously highlighted two of these documents in my role as editor of the Thursday Tidings newsletter for the Naval Historical Foundation.
